After a "format c:" i´m trying to reinstall my corel x5. But after starting the install-progress i only can see this:
What does it mean? I can´t imagine where this comes from?!?
Does anybody know how to handle this fault?
Hello donschuller; I don't have a clue to what kind of computer or Windows you are trying to install it on, but is the computer still doing anything while the flag is displayed?
George
Hello George,
i´m using Windows 7 Professional on a pc with a core i5 prozessor. Like i said, it worked once, but now the same error occures when i try to install it on my notebook. Everything else still works fine, nothing is frozen or hang.. I tried a clear startup, different versions of the download, still the same error
Greetings,
donschuller
Do you have .net 3.5 installed?
I think X5 needs that, and the installer might get confused if you have only .net 4 or later. But do not remove the later versions -- if you have them, it is because newer programs are using them.
I tried, but then i found out, that Win7 has .net 3.5 included. You have to activate it in the system preferences, but it doesent change anything..
Does anybody have a suggestion? I tried uninstalling the whole .net stuff and reinstalled it, twice, but nothing happens and i need corel..
What did you do after formatting the drive? Did you restore any backups that might have written into the Corel program or data folders?
No, i set window from the ground up. I installed it new because i bought an ssd for the system But it is the same on my notebook, where it ran for years..
Hello donschulller; Installing a SSD can be a pain, it depends on weather you are cloning of doing a fresh install. A fresh install is easier, install Windows on the SSD and check it to make sure it's working well before adding any other software. Cloning is a little tougher depending on the cloning software you use. Make sure you aren't over loading the SSD with files and other info. Are you trying to use Corel over a Lan?
Hello,
i installed everything new so that everything should just work fine. And until now (i´ve been using the ssd for about a year) the system ran quite perfect. Is there any update known for causing this problem? I´m feeling pretty uncomfortable uninstalling all 5000 updates since windows7 came on the market...
I would look at when I noticed the problem and look and see what updates you have gotten just before the problem. If you turn back the computer to that date you can go back and get the updates if they didn't help when turned back.
