Yesterday one of my friend asked me how to create star with round edge as opposed to pointed edge. Quite fascinated by his challenge I started my beloved CorelDraw and drew a star with 40 spikes at a depth of 10. Since the stars have pointed edge, I used the Filler tool to round-off the sharp edges, I was successful, but the fillet tool also rounded off the lower (inside) node. hence I failed, to create what my friend had challenged.
One option is to create a star, then painfully select only the outer nodes and use the fillet tool to round off the edges. Is there any other easy method of doing the same in CorelDraw.
( My friend apparently uses the rival program Adobe Illustrator and mocks me using CDR )

Instead of star tool try to use polygone tool

Do you mean something like this or this:
Its just a star with a thick outline -- using a round nib for the outline and then filling with either the same or a contrasting colour.
[Edit]: Another permutation is to put the outline behind the fill:
Or, if you can't accept an outlined fill -- instead of filling, do arrange > convert outline to object then arrange > break apart and delete the smaller shape.
Select the outside nodes, open the Fillet, Scallop and Chamfer Docker and choose the radius according the size of the object
Another possible method (I did this in CorelDRAW version 11, so I know it will work in yours):

Thanks for the reply. I used the exact same method for creating it and I've already mentioned in my question post. Is there any other way for creating the same.
The problem with the fillet tool is it works only on curves, any object not as curves will be automatically converted to curves upon using fillet tool. You will not be able to change the number of edges in the object afterwards.
Another method that I found is first create a star with the per-defined edges, apply a round nib outline with a thick point say .25 - .3 mm, Now convert the outline to object, then using the resultant object create a boundary, thus way the inside nodes of the star will remain sharp, but the outer edge will be rounded.
Hope Team Corel hears us and come with an easy option of just specifying the corner radius in the next version.
