Hello! Am I wrong or is it still impossible to "place" pdf file into cdr document, without converting pdf to objects? As many of us , I have to put my customer's add into leaflet, but draw change fonts and lose some objects upon import on a file, that does not need to be changed in any way. I think, "place pdf" is one of the essential DTP features since ever in whole DTP industry and Draw is unable to deal with it, at least throug straight, ordinary way. Or am I overlooking obvious?
I found this object when I copy it from MS Word. The object seem similar to object, when I place a pdf file into InDesign document.I do not know what type of object is it,but maybe CorelDraw can add an option to import the PDF file into a document as object like that.Or, maybe can build a VBA script to do it.
Dealing with unconverted pdf files should be standard feature in Draw without VBA scripts etc. since we have quite strong DTP tools already built in app (imposition, color managemet, preflight ...) Maybe development of Draw is targeted to different consumers now as all we got lately are cheap effects (impact tool, block shadow etc.) which could be also made by hand if needed in rare scenarios. Let's wait until 12. march and see what will we get in new edition ... Otherwise Affinity with their set of tools has become very capable and affordable option recently for my kind of work.
Well, Illustrator doesn't allows to import a PDF as "closed package" without convert it. But CorelDRAW should add an option to import as editable or as closed package (similar to EPS). And it should be native, not a macro
I'm sure that it will be an option in the future, There are many things to correct before, more important or more urgent.
I just noticed that the initial message is more than three years old. Maybe it's time to start. I know, the idea is even older, it has been a request for many years. Some people post in the forums waiting for someone from the company to come by, read it and transmit it to their team, but very few people send the request to the company directly,
I work with Draw since v2.1 (early 90') almost every day, went through all the troubles we had with output then and I remember how advanced Draw was compared to Illustrator at the time. Draw had fountain fills, multi page files, print preview etc long before Illy but somehow after version 9 all development seems to went into rewriting of Draw code, adjusting to new OSes, so-so features as Connect etc. In the mean time, dedicated page layout programs as Quark and InDesign (...) started to implement more and more design features and over time become main design tool for many of my fellow designers - with pdf placement built in. This pdf placement thing is not that crucial for Draw as there are different solutions, but somehow show changed direction of Draw development. Still, I think it would be nice to have it.

Huh? One can Place a PDF in Illy just like in ID or QXP. The below is non-editable inside of Illy.
Now, I personally could care less whether CD ever gets such a capability or not. If it never does it would impact my work at all. However, for the people that it would benefit, I'm all for being able to link/place PDFs.
One would expect this ability to go along with other DTP features, that are implemented in Draw for decades. Maybe you are not using them too but for my modest needs, there would be few jumps to InDesign per week less. But it will not happen IMO as Draw is going elswhere. :(
Me too, I want this feature, and surely it will be added in the future
