Error: Unknown Error during install of CorelDRAW x8 with no installation support.

I've tried installing CorelDRAW Graphic Suite x8
After reboot it is asking for my username and password, which I have supplied, but I get ‘Error: Unknown Error.” I can not proceed. I have checked my online account and the program is registered to my account.
I have rebooted again, the registration screen appears when I try to go into CorelDRAW.

My other problem is: There is no phone tech support. It's a sham. They take your information and promise you an email. I think that is unaceptable for a program of this size/cost especially during launch.

There are others with similar problems posted in this forum, and while they appear resolved for those users, no one has come back to say 'how' it got resolved.

Also, the 'Chat now' button on the Corel.com website is not chat, but a form for zendesk email. It's just as useless so far.

I'm  not happy being treated this way by Corel. I'm paying an employee to stare at a useless computer, and now I'm involved trying to fix this mess.

  • I believe I have solved the problem for now:

    From:

A reason for this error is the Windows Auto Update is turned off and the root certificate authority is not up to date.

    (my updates are on)

    Solution:

Update the root certificate of your Windows.
    www.download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3/static/trustedr/en/rootsupd.exe

(I don't even know what those are, and this isn't even for windows 10, but it worked.)

(I didn't have to do this part I don't think, but worth a try if you are still having issues)

    Then, please do this:

    Open Internet Explorer,

    Tools menu,

    Internet Options,

    Go to the advanced tab.

Scroll down to "check for server certificate revocation" and uncheck it.

Apply the changes and close Internet Explorer.

(If you do not have Internet Explorer, go to Control Panel>Internet Options)

    Restart your system,

launch CorelDraw X6, (Well, x8 in my case)

    then try logging in.

Please try it out using CorelDraw X6 as it will log in other software included in the Suite like PhotoPaint X6.

You should now be able to log in without errors.

So there. I hope if you searched for this, you find it. Because I got a response back from 'tech support' which consisted of: 'our website is down'. Like that's any kind of solution.
