I love CorelDRAW and have been using it for many years, most recently the X6 version. I decided to upgrade to X8. I'm rather distressed that DRAW and PAINT automatically sign me in when I open a project. This install was authorized properly during the installation process. I can see no reason why auto signin is required or necessary. Certainly, on occasion, it is needed for updates, but I'd rather connect when *I* want to, Any help would be appreciated.
I think the argument against being signed in has some valid points however in our modern world it is unrealistic. The end user today is so price sensitive that companies have had to be inventive with how they deliver services, products and advertising. Due to the awful global economy the last several years that price sensitivity is valid.
In the U.S PC's sell for $600 and come loaded with lots of software, it's those associations that allow the machine to sell for $600. Start up the system and take an hour to remove all the stuff you don't want.
People complain about pop up ads in the software. In my case I have no idea how else the software people would reach me I don't watch television, I don't read newspapers or listen to the radio and I don't surf the internet. All my web activity is this forum and professional graphics forums that do not allow ads.
I'm exactly the user they want, very little to no customer support and I'm still in business generating revenue so I'm not as price sensitive. All my Corel clients are generating corporate level revenue and are not price sensitive.
However without pop UPS they're never going to reach me to promote their products. So I guess we all live with it.
Nobody has an inherent right to reach me if I don't want to be reached.
Of course not. Nobody here forces you to buy a subscription. But if somebody want to download some stuff, they should log in
@Ariel: The extraneous log in is needed to RUN the app. I do NOT want the assets from others. So, I am downloading nothing intentionally. Who knows what is happening inside of Windoze. With that... I need not log in as I am downloading nothing.
same than here, you need to log in for post a reply. And nodobody cares about it. And you need to log in for send an e-mail. But if you don't like or you don't want it, it's OK. Life is too short for spend time on this, if you don't agree there's no problem. Nobody will force you to use CorelDRAW. Good luck and enjoy the life
Ariel, I know you are on the two threads that I am on and have had the opportunity to read this info I have written in several ways (in hopes that my terms cross language and lexicon boundaries).
When I log onto this forum; I use a Virtual Machine (VM). If you do not know what a virtual machine is then I can offer this insight... it will run applications and operating systems withing a controlled environment on top of an already running operating system. It has the option of controlling a LOT of the functionality outside the operating system. One option I use most is to not allow anything accessed via that virtual machine to get info outside of the VM.
So, when I log onto this and most web pages, nothing gets saved and the only info they get is a brand spanking new operating system without any personal info. I also log onto this forun using a managed email address. It is managed in that the email address is a 'burner'. It has no legally visible reference to my real email address. So, logging onto this forum as safe as creating a brand new computer, getting a brand new email address, and using them only to get here.
Yes, there are chances they can get info from my internet address. But, the use of Virtual Private Networking allows me to hide that.
I travel internationally a lot. I travel domestically frequently. I attend and present at conferences. I do not need to have the potential threats of all this exposure to adversely affect me. So, the above methods are just part of turning on my computer(s). My cohorts do not follow such practices and have suffered regularly where I have only had a few intrusions.
Summary, I can control an operating system and web browser within a VM and have no relavent performance degradation. Doing the same with Draw cannot be the case.
Thanks, I have already used Virtual Machines in the past.
I don't suscribe to your point of view, that's all
I understand. When you meet or are a victim, you will (hopefully) smarten up. It is a common behavior to not protect ones self so we can be lazy.
Like those people who use google drive and other clouds because it is free and easy... they'd have given them heroin in the past. But, data is the new addiction and people are giving away their freedoms, data and privacy just like a chemical junkie.
Well hopefully you don't make your living in graphics because there are no more RIPS that do not require you to have internet access to use.
