Our print service accepts now only PDF-X4 data. CD-X8 and earlier versions can only PDF-X1 and PDF-X3. How can we get a PDF-X4 from CD-X8. Or must we say gooodby CorelDraw?
Hi Ariel,
I started a trial with your default but the result is not very promising.See all the red crosses. Not every CD user has Acrobat Pro to fix the PDF.I think the developer (in the CD-X8 cycle) should provide it fastest.
Perhaps "callas Software" can do it - as for Quark Xpress.
There are no print services here that only accept PDF/X-4 that I deal with, and I deal with print services around the world. But, if I was a print service, every print service I know does use Acrobat and I would just silently convert them myself. And I would post instructions akin to what Ariel posted about proper PDFs where there would be no conversion issues.
They use to be called service bureaus for a reason...
Also, I cannot imagine ever being in this business without Acrobat. However, if I didn't have Acrobat and I wished for a real print service to print my work and one such print service demanded PDF/X-4 and I could not produce it and they would not take the few seconds to convert my PDF for me, I would take my business elsewhere.
From my perspective if a printer demanded a PDF X4 file and couldn't accommodate me I'd tell them to bugger off. I send files all over the U.S. and several countries as X8 DC, I flatten transparency and embed profiles only when ask.
