I REALLY hate these ads popping up on my PC. How can turn them off?
If turning off all the updates/offers notifications in the Product Details tab of the welcome screen doesn't stop this annoying pop-up (as it didn't for me), here is the solution:
In Windows, click the Start button and select Control Panel
In Control Panel click Administrative Tools
In the right-hand pane double-click Task Scheduler (allow permission if asked)
In the left-hand pane select Task Scheduler Library
In the top middle pane you should see a list of scheduled events. Look for those related to Corel (in mine there are 'CorelUpdateHelperTask' and 'CorelUpdateHelperTaskCore')
Right-click on each and select 'Disable'.
That's it. Those annoying upgrade pop-ups will stop.
Note: I am using CorelDraw version X8 which is no longer eligible for any updates. If your version is still eligible, disabling these may prevent access to desired or necessary updates (or at least notifications that they are available).
Hope this was helpful.
For people on Mac with the same problem, here is the analagous solution:
The files to be deleted are located under two file paths:
1) /Library/LaunchAgents
2) /Library/Preferences
If you delete all the files with corel in the name from these two folders, you will end the pop-ups. Despite not having any corel software on my machine for a year or more, I got one yesterday and followed GMann's advice on how to get rid of them. CorelUpdateHelper appears once in Launch Agents and there are several folders related to it in the Preferences folder. You may have to view hidden files to locate these folders, it does require root privileges to delete these files&folders. The most time consuming part is locating the files, so by knowing what folders they are directly under, you can solve the issue in 5 minutes or less.
Thank you GMann, and hope this can be of use to Mac users suffering from the corel pop up ads despite removing the software. Best.
