I used to have a full version of Corel Graphics suite, but needed to upgrade to a version that worked reliably with Windows 10.
As I'm no longer using it in a commercial environment, I opted for the "home and Student" edition of X8, but am being driven mad by the seemingly random way that certain functions and features have been removed. I understand that this is a cut-down version, but many times I cannot find an option for something very simple, like editing the page position or print margins of an imposition layout, while something very complicated that I am very unlikely to ever use, has been left in.
What is MOST annoying though, is that when I go to the Help files for advice, there is no indication of what features have been left out or removed, just a blanket disclaimer on EVERY SINGLE page saying "Some features described in this Help are not included in CorelDRAW Home & Student Suite X8 and are available only in CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X8". This is no help at all!
Before I consider upgrading to a newer version of the Suite, I want to know what I'm going to be missing. So is there a definitive list somewhere of what functionality has been removed in the "Home and Student" editions for X8, 2017 and 2018?
Thank you.
Here's a document that lists some of the differences: CDGS 2018 Comparison matrix.
Sadly, that is NOT comprehensive in describing everything that is different / missing in Home and Student.
Thanks for the link, sadly, as you say, it doesn't really give any info on the technical features missing, just things like number of fonts and bits of clipart included.
You could also look at the posts from Tony Severenuk in this thread:
Differeces [sic] between X7 Home and regular Version?
That, too, is not comprehensive - and it's getting a bit old. I'm not sure that they haven't removed even more things from Home and Student since then.
Hello Andy_P
Just been told on here that the cross hairs are not included in the home student edition either. Perhaps the members of this forum should compile a better comprehensive list of differences and 'SELL' it back to Corel inc. Their own Comparison matrix is no help whatsoever in deciding a lesser version. I tried in vain to find out what tools and menu options were missing before i purchased my boxed copy. It's like buying a cooker and finding there are no knobs on the front.
Pat.
My wife and I went shopping for a new car to replace her aging Chrysler Sebring. Settled on one then drove it home. Only then did we realize it didn't have a cd player. She wasn't too happy. Had to get her a subscription to Sirius XM.
