I am looking to upgrade from CGS X3 to X7 but in the UK I am not eligible for an upgrade and would have to pay the full price. In the USA, it seems that I can upgrade from any version. Why this difference?
Trik
Amazon are selling direct, not through their marketplace. I do not use Corel for business but mainly for processing photos in PhotoPaint, so I was particularly interested in the raw converter which X3 does not have. At the moment I use Canon's DPP and it does the job and, with X3 I can do any adjustments necessary to get the shots how I want them. I was hoping that X7 might do more, though - like recovering blown highlights rather than just turning the white into grey. Oh well, upgrading to X7 was an impulse thing, I suppose, and on reflection I guess X3 is still sufficient for my needs. I have customised the UI just how I like it, it's (mostly) rock solid and does a fair job on my photos so I don't need to upgrade. I'll have to give it more thought. Incidentally, I have always had the full CGS rather than home and student as I suspect the latter might have reduced functionality?
Buy Corel Aftershot Pro, you'll be HAPPY!
What a coincidence - I did just that today! And I cannot stand it[:@]
My main complaint is that, although the website says that my camera (Canon 7D II) is supported, AfterShot Pro 2 is not applying my in-camera settings like noise reduction and picture style, so my photos look very different to how they should even prior to processing. The whole point of having in-camera settings is that I do not have to make so many adjustments prior to conversion. Nor could I find how to download a module for the camera - if there is one - or any lens modules. I don't like the UI - all that black for one thing (too much like Lightroom and DxO) - and there are a number of other niggles, too. For example : not being able to select centimeters instead of pixels, not being able to free-rotate during crop. In fact, several functions that I have become used to - and find useful - in Canon's Digital Photo Professional. Even that rather basic software has the facility to download lens modules, and applies my in-camera settings. I won't give up and uninstall it just yet, but it looks like I have wasted around £50.00 and I feel somewhat aggrieved!
I use it all the time, just shoot RAW, import and do my core adjustments in Aftershot. Never tried lens downloads. I love the simplicity of ASP's batch processing. I have a few images every shoot that I love that would have been lost without it.
50 euros, did they have a sale?
