When I try to edit a bitmap or jpg image in I get this error message "Failed to create object. Make sure the object is entered in the system registry." I've used this program successfully for years and never seen this before. Even after two reinstalls, with latest updates and patches, and a few virus scans, still get the same message. Any ideas?
In Corel Draw "Edit bitmap" should open photo paint and open the bitmap ready for editing; then after you have edited you can resave the new version under another filename and thus retain the original should you wish to return to it.
Since you have tried reinstalling the software, then I guess that the reason may be in the user files in your Users (or Documents & Settings) files. The simplest way to fix any corrupted files there, beyond what you have done, so far, is to hold down the F8 key while starting PP and answer "Yes" to resetting to factory defaults. Try the same method with DRAW.
If that succeeds or fails, let us know.
Ok, I'll give that a try in both Photo Paint and Draw - thanks Hugh - I'll get back to you w results.

Please let me know

Well, no cigar on that either. I've now resorted to using X3 that I had on an older computer, and that still works fine. The reset to factory defaults seemed to reset everything, except the cross program editing of bitmaps or jpgs - still says it failed to create ojbect - make sure the object is entered in the system registry. Strange. Any other thoughts?
