1. Ellie said to keep pushing until we got the "Hollywood Look" so I
increased contrast and decreased saturation.
2, Ellie controls the supply of beer so I kept going. I hope that you
don't mind -- at least not too much.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but my opinion is that the first retouch shown is way too blurry. It's destroying the skin texture: the person does not look real anymore. I would rather go for just very light adjustments on any undesired local imperfection, if any.

I'm with you on this I was in a K mart and there was a picture of Halle Berry and she looke dlike a plastic doll, why in Gods name woiuld you want to ruin that face by removing the character?

Hi Mosh and David,
1. Personally, I agree with you on preserving or better yet adding skin
texture.
2. I've looked closely at posters in the malls and department stores. If
you look closely, you can tell that the skin texture is usually (but not
always) a fake one.
3. I've photographed these textures and applied them to images which I
have smoothed and retouched. Not too surprisingly, the members of my senior
citizen club prefer to see themselves with super smooth skin. Other people
never even notice until you ask them
So I've given up either preserving or adding skin texture.
