Hi! I have Corel Graphics Suite 12, and I am very new to it! I am interested in sandblasting pet memorials with the picture of their pet. I need to create a halftone, then black and white from these photos. How do I do it?
Hi,
You probably mean laser engrave?

I don't think it's possible to sandblast halftones, unless the cut vinyl you use has circular halftones based on maybe 5 lines per inch. ;-p
you could sandblast a lineart drawing of the pet, but the thinnest lines would be about 1/16".

Hi Jeff,
I have a laser engraver and use corel 12 and hope you can hellp me..I have a photo I want to engrave on marble. I have erased the background. It is white and I want to change it to black. Is this possible..Thanks fore any help. Karen
hi K,
Maybe inverting the image is what you want.
note: some laser equipment might require a 1-bit monochrome file too.
The equip. manufacturer will likely have some info on what the unit needs for best results.
Jeff,
I actually tried inverting the picture but that made the persons face black and his black tshirt white..I called the photograv company and they actually use adobe photo shop..I was hoping to avoid buying another program..I had tried cutting the person out of the background and was successful but lost the person trying to bring it back from the corel paint to the corel draw.It is a long process and I tried this twice and was so frustrated by the second time..Not sure what to do at this point.I know the background has to be black so it wont engrave on teh marble...
Karen
sounds like you simply want the white background to be black?
you could:
1. mask background area with magic wand tool, then fill with black
or
2. paint those white areas black with paintbrush tool instead
no need to use photoshop.
