Great contrast on the sky.
Sort of reminds me of ancient times when I loaded Ortho-chromatic film in my camera, when I was in the Artic. Used to get dramatic skys, with that film.

If I may ask; where in the arctic were you? Anywhere near (what is today) the Yukon Flats Nat'l Wildlife Refuge?

I was up, near Thule Air Base, Greenland, (at the time) just 77 miles away from Geomagnetic North Pole. In 1960-1961 and again 1965 to 1966. Total of two years.
I wasn't quite that far north. Latter part of the 70's. Two winters counting wolves for the US gov't, to establish resident vs. transient (summer visitor pack) numbers. I believe the data was used to help justify and establish the boundaries of the Reserve (Est. 1980).
