Ancient stone engraving

Hi Everybody,
This ancient stone engraving was recently found buried in the floor of
the Parthenon in Athens.
I have no idea how it was done. The ancient stone cutter must have
stumbled along following the instructions in "Art and Design" by Steve
Caplin.
