300 dpi smaller & sharper than 72 or 96 dpi - Whats up with that?

I have an client that sent me a photo the odd part it's 226x318 300 dpi jpeg format @ 17kb, it's smaller & sharper than 72 or 96 dpi when I export them! Even export to web is larger @ 177kb...

The only info I can find on the photo when I open it with a WordPad is LEAD Technologies Inc. V1.01. Looks like it came from a Cell Phone?

I'm using CorelDRAW 12

    I'm embarrassed to say I know what the problem was with the larger file size... Under "Color Management" I left the "Optimize for professional output" selected, I normally just use Default.  I just got around to posting the update...
