I am not sure what I am doing wrong or if I have turned the tools off some how.
I am unable to smear or use the brush tools on digital images opened in PhotoPaint.Please help me...

I am using Corel PhotoPaint 12. F8 will bring up the tool but has no effect on any digital image. I can draw lines, mask areas and use the fill tool etc. but I am unable to use the effects tool, smear or paint brush tools. There must be something turned off but I am unsure what.
Any ideas?
I made sure that the paint mode is normal and I have sized the tool to be large and yet smear will not work. I have also made a mask to see if it would work in an area that have been masked but not luck. I only have one JPG image open.

Andy, when Stefan says F8, it means resetting the workspace i.e. hold down the F8 key as you start PhotoPaint. When it prompts you for comfirmation, click ok.

Good that it solved itself.
Sorry i missed this. Ive had this problem before myself and found that re-setting the brush type helped.
