We are a current subscriber using the X8 suite. According to the EULA, we are allowed to install the suite on up to 3 devices as long as only one copy is in use at a time. We have desktops at our shop and some laptops for working on projects at home when necessary.
We just received an email saying that we were allowed to upgrade to the 2018 Suite, but when installing on the second device, I received a warning about installing on multiple devices, and upon reading the EULA for the 2018 suite, it appears that we are now only allowed to install on one device per license. Is this true?
I just want to make sure we aren't doing anything in violation of the EULA and will stop changing over the software if that is the case.
Thanks
I also think that the bean counters (or PTB) could nix the idea Gerard espouses and in a patch kill a secondary install. I'm probably just paranoid...basically I just don't trust many people and even fewer companies.
Besides, the explanation still doesn't jive with the previous 3 permitted installs. It is a change and it isn't a change for the better. In fact, being the skeptic I am, if Corel is hurting so badly that they are tightening the reigns on installations, they are doing worse than I thought at least as regards management stuff and/or possibly financially.
Glad I have never been tied to a single company's products.
Let me follow-up with the different teams internally to find a solution that will clarify this.
Regarding your other comment about the situation of Corel, the company is doing well and we are investing significantly into our future products.

Well enough to alienate a significant proportion of your users? I don't think that would be a good business decision.
Hello, Gerard,I have one question about current situation:
I've paid prescription whole life of Corel 2017. If I stop the prescripton now, because of problems with new EULA, will I be able to use Corel 2017 in the future? Main innovation in version 2018 is symmetry and the new shadow, that I could juggle. Much more is for me to have Corel on 2 computers - PC and Laptop. And I repeat: I work NEVER on 2 of them at once. Will it be legally clean against Corel Corp.?

Gerard Metrailler said:We fully understand that a small percentage of our customers have been installing our software on more than one computer and only using it on one device at a time, as per our previous EULA. For those customers who are upgrading to the latest version and have previously installed their product on more than one device, we have made sure that the activation process would allow them to continue to use the latest version in a similar way.
I have a shiny new license - not an upgrade - for CDGS 2018.
I was excited about some of the features in 2018, but I am very, VERY disappointed to learn of this change to the EULA.
I have two machines - one at my workplace and one at home - that are used exclusively by me. Installing the same license on both machines would NEVER result in concurrent use.
It would, however, allow me to spend more time using CDGS 2018 - and increase my CorelDRAW skills and knowledge, all the better to promote CorelDRAW at my workplace - and participate in the the user-to-user support that goes on here in the the Community forum - and develop CorelDRAW macros that I'm willing to share freely.
But no, the new EULA doesn't allow that - a change that significantly reduces the value of CDGS to me.
There is no problem using my Adobe Creative Cloud at home...
For those of us who have honestly used and promoted CorelDRAW, for years, often an uphill battle - does Corel Corp have to make it harder for us to do so?
