I just stumbled upon THIS LINK which is part says of CorelDraw, "Later this year, upgrades (download and box products) will no longer be available. Add Upgrade Protection to your purchase to get future versions at a fraction of the cost or choose a subscription, to always stay current." I did not take part in the webinar from earlier today, which I assume detailed what will happen later this year. Does anyone know? Does this mean Corel is moving to a subscription-only model for Draw? Am I correct to assume that anyone who has a licensed product before a subscription-only model begins will be able to keep that license, to use that version, regardless of his or her subscription status?
Thanks for your time.
I'll try to explain as clear as possible.
- you can buy a new version (such as CorelDRAW 2019, 2020, etc) for a lifetime. Nobody force you to update, upgrade or change if you don't want. You do not have to pay anything else, but your program will not be updated automatically.
- you can choose subscription, it's something like rent the program. You'll pay a monthly/annual fee, and you receive all new versions when are available. if you do not want to continue using it, do not pay more and the program is deactivated at the end of the period.
- you can choose an intermediate option: buy the program with upgrades at less price ("Upgrade Protection Program").
Until now, if you have a previous version (such as X4, X7, etc) you can upgrade for a fraction of the cost (half price for example). But some people has an upgrade of an upgrade of an upgrade.... that option will be disabled on the near future. So, this is the last chance to upgrade from an old version at fraction of the price.
Corel has already announced last year that one version will be released per year, and that is one of the reasons why now each release takes the year of release.
Thank you for your explanation Ariel
Every time that I click on the update the answer is there are no update available at this time
what should I look for on my account.

On the "downloads" section under your account it should be an option for download the newest version, but as we can read on other post, it's not available for all people, so maybe you should wait some days. Anyway, the best answer is to contact with the company
Actually if you have the last version 18, you are not paying a fraction of the price, it is 249.00 for the upgrade to 19 instead of the 100 from last year . I'm caught where I evidently should have paid the Canadian updates price last year in addition to the purchase so I could pay the Canadian update price this year. I had figured to just update every few years as it was for home use in my retirement - now they are dropping the cheaper upgrades it sucks. Not to mention 18 sounds superior to the current 19 on my current laptop as it doesn't crash after 1 print, which they say l9 does.

Not all people has the same issues. Only a few people say that having issues when print.
Sincerely; I don't believe the version 18 (CorelDRAW X8) was superior to CorelDRAW 2019, on the contrary, many people complained about it:

My personal feeling is that CorelDRAW X7 (version 17.0) works better than version 18, while version 20 (CorelDRAW 2018) still has a better performance than version 21 (CorelDRAW 2019).
