So, I've noticed that the eye dropper has magically decided (because I touched nothing after setting up my defaults, and the eye dropper worked fine before) that it will no longer match colors properly. Both Objects within the Group (the Area Rug) are CMYK. So using the eye dropper in changing the line colors or fill colors to match other elements within the group should, in theory, match the color exactly. Since it's CMYK to CMYK, there should be no Eye Dropper chicanery where the CorelDraw engine is able to just decide itself to give me as close to the match as it feels, rather than matching the CMYK values exactly. Naturally, my reaction is, "Well, this is some !@#$%^." This whole, "CorelDraw is just gonna decide for me," is ridiculous. No idea wtf happened or how since once the defaults are set, I never touch them again in that document. So the likelihood of it being something I changed is nil. This is to say nothing of other issues that CorelDraw has been having, and no, it's not the Mac. The MacBook is brand new, has a GPU, and enough RAM to run CorelDraw. Use the eyedropper in the tool bar not the property bar, select the color you want then use the bucket tool to fill the other object. The eyedropper innthe properties dockerbis dysfunctional.
I take it Corel is aware of the issue, then?
Yes but it's been there since version 2017 at least.
5 years and they still haven't figured out how to fix it?? What is this, Microsoft? lmao
I believe they don't get enough complaints about it because when using the properties docker all you need do is pick your color with the pick tool and not use the eyedropper and everything works. I think experienced long time users see it as another redundant item Corel though we needed, I know I do. It was probably recommended by some Mac, Illustrator user in the BETA team.
To be honest I've been using the program 30 years and I only ever use the eyedropper on the tool bar and really barely use the properties docker. The properties docker in terms of Draw time line is fairly recent and experienced users had developed other methods incorporating the properties docker only when needed.
Core either should fix that eyedropper or remove it.
