What is the problem if I can not grab objects excactly in the center?
The guy in this videohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EcMLEatZGeY&ab_channel=DougGreenis doing this a few times. Grabing an object in the middle and place it somewhere else.
If I try this I only get the arrow cross, but not the symbol which tells me that it snapped to the center - see screenshot:
And yes, all Allignment Modes in the CorelDraw Settings are enabled - see sceenshot:
I believe you may have accidentally turned off All Snapping. This is a long requested feature that was added a couple of versions back.Alt+Q will disable/enable snapping, while the Q key alone will disable snapping for as long as it is pressed.Very useful but also easy to disable/enable by accident.Take a look at the "Snap to" icon in the Standard toolbar, if it is greyed out, snapping has been disabled.
Hi Ronny, thank you for your answer.
Unfortunately this is not the case. The Pick tool snaps to all possible alignement points except the center of objects. Is there any other setting to adjust this behavior?
Edit:
I tried it on my old system with CorelDraw 2023 - there it works. So i gave "Repair Installation" a try (CD2024) - Did not fix the problem. In addition I tried it with CD2023 on the same system too - also did not work.
Is it a problem to habe CD2023 and CD2024 installed in parallel?
The funny thing is, grabbing an object at the exact center position is not possible, but placing an object at the exact center position of an object (even itself) is possible.
Edit2:
Now i even uninstalled all Corel related programs (including user settings), rebooted the machine, redownloaded CD2024 and installed it. Still same issue.
Yes, 100% sure. Otherwise the Pick tool wouldn't snap to any point of an object. Only snap to center on picking an object is the problem.
Sorry, I have no idea what could be causing it then.Could it be hardware related perhaps? Mouse?
I also thought about that, but as it is only a snap-to-center-on-pick problem I guess it could not be a hardware thing.
Mouse is a Logitech MX Anywhere 2.
Try another mouse anyway, if possible.
I tried two other mice, same problem. The third one was a very basic one with wire. I think we can rule out the mouse as source of the problem.
Here is a short GIF to demonstrate my problem more clearly. As you can see, if i already move an object, snap to center works. But if i want to grab an object, the Pick tool would snap to everything but the center. If I draw an object snap to center works.
No idea what could be wrong. If I move the cursor near the center of a selected object, the center point changes and I get a "center" label, just as expected.
