Curving perspectives

Hi there,

I want to know if there is a way of making an item's perspective go around a curve, for example: I am busy with corporate branding and want to be able to create the logo and edit it to go around the mug, so the perspective cant just be linear.

Please help!

  • Not a direct or one click solution but you may try envelope effect on the  object you need to add a perspective.

    • Hello Janita; If what you are after is something like the screen shot below go to Text on the menu and select Fit Text To Path.

        • This seems to be exactly what I need, but I want to know one thing, I am teaching myself coral draw and have only started so I am not to sure what you mean by putty and single art at the envelope part? I have used the envelope effect before but i am not sure whether those terms apply to specific steps... also english is not my first language hehe

          • Sorry above message intended to Mike van Duin

Here is a video showing the progress. I try to highlight each thing I do by hovering the mouse over choices. Sorry if it goes too fast.

Also, when I move the center node down during the envelope process, you'll notice that the top node moves with it. Hold Ctrl or Shift to get different effects.

          • Just another reason why we need better 3d "map art" (as in other programs and plugins) incorporated into CGS!

Done in PP with AV bros again!

That's a sweet plug in. I don't need it right now, but it's cool.

The big question.....how can we let Corel know it exists and how important we need stuff like this, and so many others like it!

No, the mug is a jpeg from the net.

                    • What has been left out, I think, so far in this thread, is the front-to-back vertical perspective.  If you want the cup to appear as it would six inches from your mouth, then there will be a noticeable reduction in the height of the ends of the text, not just horizontal compression. If you want it to appear to be further away, then the vertical compression will be less (0 at infinity).

As it stands, the examples shown appear to have a taller "I" than "d".  Perhaps COREL is not ready to convert everything to 3D, but tools such as vanishing point and horizons, with numeric values that can be set for an entire scene, were available in the 1980's on highly popular programs such as Electronic Arts "Deluxe Paint."  DPaint even had a built-in tiling function in numerically controlled 3D.  It was NICE!
