I would be grateful for some help regarding bleeds and cut contour lines.
I am working on a project with various different contour shapes (see sample). Each shape has 2 different coloured contours. On top of the shape is another shape acting as a product header. This header has a different colour from the product object. At the moment I have grouped both these objects as they are going to be filled with printed content on front and reverse side and I must be sure to have a 100% alignment front and back.
My questions:
How do I include bleeds as well as a cut contour line for both objects? With the attached sample the letter A has an outer blue contour of 1.5 cm. How do I include the necessary bleed? Command 'outside boundary' doesn't work because I lose the cut shape within the design. Using a third contour "inside" blue contour also doesn't work.
I hope the description of the problem is clear. Can anyone help? Many thanks. Sonny
Hello Sonny; With a 1.5 cm. line I would not use a bleed myself. And you have to watch printing one color over another or you may get some bleed of a unwanted color. If you are printing on both side of something one side would have to be mirrored to line up, if not it would look as the screen shot below.
I Hope this is some help, Geprge
Thanks Geprge for your reply. Still not sure how to create the necessary cut contour. The printer needs a seperate cut contour and I have to include bleed otherwise the design would have white lines around it. Hope I'll get a solution.
Sonny1, most printers cutters have to use a special color outline for cutting, you may want to read the printers instructions book Again or call the vender you got it from. I out source business cards for printing and the bleed back ground is trimmed I out source a 2.25" x 3.75" drawing and it is cut to 2" x 3.5" so they know the back ground color will cover all of the finished card. The front doesn't have to match the back. What are you trying to print? You can email me direct if you want.

Highly appreciate your input! I've tinkered around with my design and have tried a different approach, which I hope will solve the issue.
Greetings to Virgina - I've lived in Winchester many moons ago, and have fond memories of the "apple country"

Sonny1, Winchester is very nice place I try to ride around and look at the apple trees in bloom when I can. I live in Richmond, Va. and I think if God was going to give the world a enema, this is where he would stick the tube. lol
