I REALLY hate these ads popping up on my PC. How can turn them off?
Thanks, GMann!
Fix from Corel chat. Requires a registry update. Can be done with a small file the offered as a download.
C:\Users\admin\Downloads>type DisableCHUForAllProducts.regWindows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Corel\CUH\Current Version]"Communication"="disabled"
[Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]"Corel Update Helper"=-"ParticleShop Update Helper"=-
Create this file and then run it. If you don't want to type it, start a chat with Corel and ask to disable pop-up adds. Corel will send you a link to this file.
Thanks for this! I made an account specifically to thank you for the instructions. Hopefully it does the trick.
I only installed Coral less than 2 weeks ago and the repeated pop ups have been starting to really irritate me. I wouldn't mind if they only came up when I opened the program, but they're popping up when I'm not even using it.
If anyone working for Coral is listening, it makes me not want to buy anything further from Coral. If you have an offer, please just send an email to your customers! This is not a free program you can spam people continuously with adds and they'll be ok with this. If this was a trial version there's a good chance I would have uninstalled as I hate invasive harrasment by repeated adds and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Removing irritating pop ups shouldn't involve having to disable updates or downloading "registry update fixes". Please respect your customer base and fix this so we don't have to do it for you.
For people on Mac with the same problem, here is the analagous solution:
The files to be deleted are located under two file paths:
1) /Library/LaunchAgents
2) /Library/Preferences
If you delete all the files with corel in the name from these two folders, you will end the pop-ups. Despite not having any corel software on my machine for a year or more, I got one yesterday and followed GMann's advice on how to get rid of them. CorelUpdateHelper appears once in Launch Agents and there are several folders related to it in the Preferences folder. You may have to view hidden files to locate these folders, it does require root privileges to delete these files&folders. The most time consuming part is locating the files, so by knowing what folders they are directly under, you can solve the issue in 5 minutes or less.
Thank you GMann, and hope this can be of use to Mac users suffering from the corel pop up ads despite removing the software. Best.
Still actual after 4 years. Corel draw is removed from the system but still sends ADS
