Dear Helpers,
I tried to print on my CD printer, but get the following message: Unable to access printer driver. Try removing and reinstalling this printer driver. After I press OK on that box I get another box with the following message: The printer is currently unavailable. The printer and/or server my be offline. If this is not the case, it may be necessary to reinstall the printer.
I've reinstalled the CD printer as a copy, but this doesn't solve the problem. My HP printer and labeller work - they are connected to USB plugs.
Can someone help me please.
Go into control panel and select printers then right click on your Cd printer and select use printer online!
This solution didn't help. The printer was already online.
How is this printer hooked up? (usb, LPT, Network, etc.)
Check your properties make sure it is showing correct port!
My CD Printer is hooked up to LTP1. It has worked for at least three years without a glitch. I did check the port immediately when the bug appeared and it was OK.
Thanks for your quick reply. If you have other ideas - I'm all ears.
Can you print a test page from control pannel>printers?
No. It wouldn't print. The message was: The test page failed to print.
What's next?
I opened the printer setup in Corel Draw 11 and there was a printer line that I've never seen before. This could be the culprit. It is called: Device Independent Postscript File.
Is this something I should try to delete in order to solve my problem?
No that is OK that is to create a post script file for output to a post script printer!
I would delete both of the Cd printers you have in control pannel and reinstall!
If you wanted to and had another printer cable to hook-up and try it you could, could possibly be a bad printer cable.
In the printer control panel if you double click on the printer is there anything showing up in the box?
If you cannot print a test page from the printer itself it could be a hardware problem or the printer drivers need to be reinstalled.
You should try reinstalling the latest drivers for your printer.
If you checked the port and its using LPT 1 it should work, unless the cable is damaged!
Does the printer have the option of using a USB or Network cable?
Try installing the printer on another computer to see if that works.
Normally when I have problems with my printers I do a clean install of the software & drivers.
When I double click on the CD printer, I get an empty box, i.e. no documents printing.
I did install an identical CD printer (Copy 1) and selected that one, but I got the same error message. If all else fails, I'll uninstall the remaining CD Printer and reinstall.
I'll try a new cable too. Nothing has been moved or touched since the last time I printed a CD label. Strange. This error just came right out of the blue.
