Hello all,
I am new to CD11, but I know my way around CD. I have searched online and looked at few CD tutorials but I can not find these answers, or might be that it is too 'beginnerish,' it just hasn't been asked... I now need help on creating more advanced shapes or advanced usage of CD11.
1. Ok, I need you to imagine a little...
I have multiple lines and curves. Lets say I have 5 of them, just randomly put together in a shape that I wish to have. (So pretend it looks like a blob for now). And to make this blob, the nodes of each line/curve are not placed ontop of each other (not each node against the next of that particular line/curve), so basically, all lines/curves overlap/interesect each other to create the blob.
I want to make this blob into a "shape" so I can fill the inside. How do I do this? I have tried combine, weld, and such, but it is not working. I have tried the 4 "automatically close path to _____" things, but those do not give me the result I wish to have. I also did the change/reverse end point thing, but that didn't work either.
Thing I don't want to do, which was in another tutorial, is to add a node on a line/curve's intersection point, delete the part I don't want, do the same thing for the next line, and connect/join those two new endpoints, and keep repeating this for all node/lines/curves until one shape is made. The problem is that I guess coreldraw doesn't recognize where two lines meets, and it doesn't allow me to snap my mouse cursor to there. IF it does, this method will be perfect for me, but sadly no... I do have snap feature activated while doing this. I am looking for a so called technical/engineering drawing type way as this is required for me for work.
2a. Rounding angles: I have this shape --- take 2 ovals, which 1st is vertical and 2nd is horizontal, align both in the center, and do the trim action. The end piece I get is a square like oval shape that is created in the center after I delete the outside parts. I want to round the angle on this shape... possible?
One tutorial told me to create 2 nodes, each node on each side of where the lines meets (the corner point), and delete the original corner node, giving it a rounded corner in the end. This works, but like question 1, I need a more accurate way to round angles, with same measurement on all the corners rather than guestimation (guess/estimation).
2b. Is it possible to do the rounding angle on other different shapes? If so, how? It seems to not work like that rectangle one where I just click and drag the corner to round corners.... am I doing it wrong?
2c. General question: does it have a round all angle feature I'm not aware of? I saw a post with an add-on that does this. but I can't install this on the company computer. Also, Can ANY shape I make in CD have angles rounded? I know on Illustrator, it didn't allow ALL when the angle between the two line was too small of an accute angle.
3. I do symmetric and non-symmetric works, but I have problems when it comes to non-symmetric one. Symmetric, I can mirror some design I create, and do automatic connection/joining to make a shape. On non-symmetric. I do the same thing with mirroring, but on both vertical and horizontal, and try to connect them together, but it doesn't work. This works ok if few lines are there, but it comes in problem when multiple lines comes in play like question 1. Any advice? Am I doing this wrongly?
4. "Smart Fill" tool for non-smart fill versions. I know Version 12 and up have this "smart fill" option, which is a great tool. Sadly version 11 does not have this feature. Is there a better way to do this "smart fill" action then the one I describe below?
I haven't done this, but this would be my guess. Wherever I want a "smart fill" type action, I would most likely have to gather all the shapes around that place, do a huge one time trimming with the main figure I want as "sent to back", and after the trim is done, I have that shape to mess around with. As an example, I have a cartooned face drawing with hair. Right below the hair, I want a shadow. I would probably need to take the hair shape, face shape, maybe few parts of the eyebrow and eyes,; and then trim. after the trim, I would need to delete the other parts that is left, which will be the area below the eyes. Fill that clor to a shadowy color, and done.
Is there another way or something more easy/cleaver that would help to do these things?
Thank you tons in advance. I am at a high paced job palce so I had to come here to seek for some answers.
