Well, actually it is easiest if you get them straight in camera. Those who use PhotoPaint and have seen PSP or LightRoom in action can develop Horizon Correction envy. It is actually quite easy to correct horizons in PhotoPaint without scripts or complex calculations.
I have put a tutorial (1.4 MB Video) HERE
I hope it is useful.
Thank you. I have used this several times for various images. How easy!!
For those on X4, the straightening tool does this even faster
Gerard,
I wasn't terrible enthralled with the new image straightener and will likely continue to use my method. I have long considered PSP's horizon tool to be the gold standard for ease of use and quickness. I was hoping that PhotoPaint would take the PSPP path and end up with a similar tool. The perspective correction tool is similarly powerful and easy to use.
Lightroom's straightening tool looks suspiciously like PSPs. To me it appears that photograph-centric programs are going for the PSP style tool and design-centric programs are doing things differently. In terms of target audience, which is bigger? Photographers or Designers? Which has potential for growth.
Not to be bashing PhotoPaint either. I just built a new small screen laptop for carry in my camera backpack to Costa Rica. It is essentially a harddrive for storage of RAW files in the field. I only had room for one image editor and X3 PhotoPaint made the cut over PSP X2 and APS CS3.
wow! I've never used the crop tool before but now I think I will- this looks a lot easier than rotating and cutting out!
