Thanks to the excellent install directions on this forum and the Ventura FAQ, I have Ventura 10 running in Windows 7 64-bit. But I cannot print Open Fonts to the printer or to Acrobat Professional. Has anyone had success using Open Fonts? Or is it out of the question? (I do transfer the file to an XP laptop and print from there).
I understand that the mfc42.dll is a piece of the C++ programing system, Version 6. Can we use a later version of C++ and get better results? I would appreciate it if anyone could enlighten me in these areas, I'm sure no programmer. Thanks!
I have discovered, only very recently, that I can successfully print OTFs to PDF iff I print via Microsoft Print To PDF.A Ventura document that comes out only as blank pages using Acrobat X Pro will print perfectly, to my eyes anyway, using the Microsoft printer.
I hope this helps,David
PS A huge thank you to everyone involved with the Ventura FAQ for sharing information that has enabled me to get Ventura up and running in Windows 10 x64!
Today MS have released an update, KB4340917, which, among other things, "addresses an issue that prevents OTFs from printing in Win32 applications".
So far I have just now tried printing a Ventura 10 document directly to my Canon printer, successfully. The font used was Alegreya which is Open Type - Postscript and everything printed fine. Yay!
The bad news is that Microsoft Print to PDF has stopped working, printing to Adobe Acrobat still doesn't work, and likewise Ventura's Publish to PDF. I think the Microsoft Print to PDF is probably fixable - that will be the next job!
