In Corel 2018 you clicked to create a new layer and straight away started typing the layer name.. In Corel 2022 you create a new layer but then have to separately select the layer, right click, select 'Rename', then type it in. C'mon guys....why the extra step? Or am I missing a shortcut?
This behavior first appeared in CorelDRAW 2019 with the redesigned Objects docker. I, too, miss the behavior of 2018 and earlier.
The quickest way I know of to start editing the name of a just-created (and still active) layer is to double-click on the layer name.
Ah, well that's something - thanks! You'd think updates would be assessed on whether they add steps/complexity or not - surely an obvious criteria during testing. And I now realise you can't delete a locked layer in 2022...so again, an addtional step has been added. Grr
