Some of MY favourite Forum members: Ariel, Eskimo, Ronny Axelsson, hywelharris and Bobby Henderson (not in any particular order). The one thing I particularly admire about these guys is that they will only respond when they need to and you can trust these guys to give you precise and accurate answers. They don't indulge in digression when responding to questions, nor do they provide grumpy responses. Always politely handing out technical and scientific answers. Their explanations are always very clear. Their expertise is unparalleled and I have learnt a LOT from these guys. I am truly inspired. The Forum needs more people like the above-mentioned. It's almost an embarrassment witnessing some members of the Forum who have a tendency to respond to almost each and every question resulting in responses that deviate from the original question. The question is usually left hanging. If you are not sure or you don't know the answer, please refrain from giving grumpy or digressing answers. Lastly, most will agree with me that the Forum is slowly dying with less and less members participating. The layout is outdated and no longer attractive to the younger generation. It needs to be restructured (for inspiration check out modern designs like Affinity Forums). Just as an example, members can click on appropriate emoticon to rate an answer. See attached.
Hard for me to respond to posts referring to anything newer than X7 and Mac. I do my best on most though.
The forum is pretty bad with notifications. I never receive alerts.
Thanks for the kind words. I try to check the forum at least once a day. CorelDRAW continues to be an important tool in my daily work and I have decades worth of CDR files that are still of value to me. So I think it's important to provide help in this forum to other fellow users of CorelDRAW or contribute to threads where important topics are being discussed. That effort can help CorelDRAW to remain a viable application. Though I might be an advocate for CorelDRAW in one sense, I'm not afraid to be critical of flaws or bugs in the application or poor choices made by managers at Corel or its parent company. Ultimately if those problems can be solved the CorelDRAW application will be even better and more able to survive (or exist aside) its competitors. I'm pretty concerned about the application's future. A lot of long-time users have gotten off the upgrade train and stuck with old versions. There's a pretty good chance I might do the same.
Today I suffered the worst crash in years. I can't open up the main file, the backup, or the emergency backup. I've tried on 3 other computers running 2022. Two days of solid work down the toilet. Corel Support is less than useless bordering on insulting.
I've encountered some pretty serious crashes in recent years, including crashes which made the file I was working on completely corrupted. When your crash happened what task was CorelDRAW trying to do at the time?
I was changing the background color of some text.
Thank you for your kind words, wilkans68, I feel very glad and honored that my efforts are appreciated.Regarding this forum and the future of CorelDRAW in general I agree with Bobby.I believe many users have decided to stick with an older version and not upgrade any more, maybe due to lack of useful new features and/or legacy bugs that never seem to get fixed, but also because they don't want to be held hostage in a never ending subscription.
Thank you for your kind words, I too find this place depressing and very representative of CorelDraw Graphics Suite in general. A place in decline, I too am unable to participate in many questions as I am no longer a beat tester and am still using 2018 and won't update until Corel make a concerted effort to get rid of legacy bugs, charge me a reasonable amount and provide new useful finctionality.
