I want to make the edge of a coloured object look frayed like a peice of material. I don't know how to go about this.......any advice would be very welcome
Hi PINKGEM.
Could you post an example?
Hi Jesus,
This type of thing
http://pshero.com/photoshop-tutorials/graphic-design/frayed-denim-patch-with-stitches
All the tutorials showing the kind of things I am interested in are shown with photoshop. Do I need to buy Photoshop as well? Some tutorals I can get the basic idea and do something similar with X5 but a lot of the time I get stuck
PS is obviously working with bitmaps. If you're willing to do that, you can convert the object to a bitmap and achieve a similar effect using bitmap / gaussian blur followed by bitmap / distort / wind.
ETA: If I were trying to keep the object a vector, I'd probably resort to finding a nice clipart of grass or something and weld it to the edge. Just sayin ...
And purely gratuitous, but I love PSHero.
I'm lazy. I would take a quick photo of a frayed piece of cloth and then use CorelTRACE to convert it to a vector file... then adapt it to my artwork. Maybe Weld it.
Thanks everyone........you have given me something to think about here
